I am extremely proud to announce that at this past weekend’s PPOC conference I earned my second accreditation!

On April 16th 2016, I earned an Accreditation in Travel Illustration after a series of my travel photography passed a juried process at the Accreditation judging session in Calgary, Alberta.

What is Accreditation?

“The Accreditation process recognizes photographers who have reached a nationally accepted standard of proficiency and knowledge in photographic arts. An Accreditation is achieved by submitting ten images in a chosen category to a PPOC Board of Review. This peer-reviewed program challenges candidates to demonstrate their capability of delivering exceptional quality photography in a chosen category. In assessing Accreditation Submissions, the judges consider the following criteria: Impact, Creativity, Style, Composition, Presentation, Color Balance, Centre of Interest, Lighting, Subject Matter, Quality, Technique, and Story Telling.”  See more at ppoc.ca.

What is involved with achieving accreditation?
An accredited portfolio in travel illustration is a collection of 10 images “that are excellent quality for the purpose of accompanying articles and information pieces commonly found in newspapers and magazines. Images in this category are “feature” oriented and non-commercial in nature”.  Each submission is judged by a panel of judges who look at each image, and the submission as a whole.  The entry is accepted only if all images show above average exceptional quality photography in the chosen category.

With only 19 other photographers across Canada accredited in this category I am again deeply humbled and proud to have received this distinction.
